The Sunshine Coast Trail is a 180km (110mile) journey from the rocky Sarah Point north of Powell River to the forested, lush Saltery Bay to the south. Less than one kilometre is on pavement, and the majority is on single track. With nearly 8,000m of vertical gain and highly technical trail, this is a challenge to take seriously; despite a dozen or more serious, credible attempts, only three people have successfully through-run the trail – and they followed a slightly shorter, older routing. The Men’s FKT is 31:55 while the Ladies’ FKT is 34:50.

Due to the remoteness and difficulty of evacuation, along with the distance between aid stations, this is a graduate level race. You are required to have completed at least one mountain 50 mile race (significant technical running and a minimum of 3,000m of ascent), or are able to demonstrate comparable experience to the organizer’s satisfaction.
